Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
OCT’s Show Synopsis
In this reimagined Dreamers Concept, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat unfolds as a story passed down through generations. The Narrator, the “Keeper of the Stories,” gathers the community to retell an ancient tale – one preserved not in books, but through memory, song, and shared wisdom. As the story comes to life, Joseph emerges not only as the dreamer, but as the teacher, whose journey- from favored son to slave, prisoner to leader- reveals the enduring power of faith, resilience, forgiveness, and hope. His dreams guide him through betrayal and hardship, ultimately shaping him into a figure of wisdom and compassion. Throughout the telling, Joseph comes to understand that his greatest gift is not in his rise to power, but the wisdom earned through his trials. In the final moments, Joseph symbolically hands his wisdom to the Narrator, entrusting the Keeper with the responsibility of carrying the story forward- ensuring it will be shared with the next generation of dreamers.

Community of Dreamers (Ensemble) 8-10 actors
We dislike calling this role the “ensemble” because we understand what that word means among actors today. Still, we can't tell our story without the characters that make up the ensemble. In this production, the ensemble is the heartbeat of the story – the community that remembers, retells, and passes Joseph’s journey to the next generation. Every performer is important in Joseph. The ensemble plays a key role, working together to tell the story through music, movement, and imagination. These roles include: wives, servants, Egyptians, Ishmaelites, guards, and children. We need flexible and energetic performers with strong vocal and dance skills.
Community of Dreamers (Children’s Chorus) 12-20 actors
We will be casting 1-3 youth actors to sing solos in the show’s finale
We consider Youth ages 8 to 15.
